Select one of the following question and compose an answer of at least 4 type-written, double-spaced pages:
- Working with either liberal, radical, or Marxist/socialist feminism and psychoanalytic/gender feminism answer the following question: Where is psychoanalytic/gender feminism an improvement on the other feminism you have chosen? Where is it not an improvement? Why?
- Is the root of patriarchy to be found in the legal, economic, or familial structure of society? In answering this question, be sure to draw on the appropriate feminist analysis for each (legal-liberal, economic-Marxist/socialist, family-psychoanalytic/gender). Also you need to not only make the case for why you think the root of patriarchy is to be found on one of these structures, but also why you think it is not to be found in one or both of the others.
- Compose a radical feminist critique of psychoanalytic/gender feminism. Where would radicals agree with this type of feminism? Where would they disagree?
- What is a psychoanalytic feminist critique of John Stuart Mill's strategy to end patriarchy and women's oppression through creating more equitable institutions -- such as education , law, and politics?
